I completely agree with you, Maxim, that we need to get Linux out there. The position of the port is only so low on the list because that list is organize in terms of "how important is this to gameplay". In terms of our business decisions and community goals, it's a hell of a lot higher.
The main reason this hasn't happened yet is because of a couple conditions that are slowing us down. The first is that Whitney isn't on the project full time any more - the second is that I'm the only one with a working Linux partition (Ubuntu). I've been totally slammed, and in order to do that port I really need to just take a day or two and beat on it.
The game has been built with cross-platform in mind; the language we're using, BlitzMax compiles natively on all three OSes. The only issue is me sitting down and making it happen. We are using some middleware that I know will need some specific conditional-to-linux- tweaks, and right now it's still a question mark how difficult they will be.
So yeah, the upshot is, I'm the only one who is currently set up to do this, and I'm totally slammed. Since that's a terrible excuse, I will simply say thank you for the reminder, and see if I can't carve out some damn time to do this. :D
